Anakie Gorge

 21st August 2021

With lock down restrictions impending we decided to get out of the house while we were still allowed and go for a walk at Anakie Gorge

Anakie Gorge is in the Brisbane Rangers National Park on the outskirts of Anakie

We started the walk from the Stony Creek Picnic Area and walked around to Anakie Gorge Picnic Area where had a break and something to eat, then returned by the same path.

The walk follows a stony creek bed which is now dry and has a few rock crossings

Signs along the walk provide information on the history & geology of the area and there are some remnants of an old water pipeline through the gorge that provided drinking water to Geelong.

We walked slowly and it took us just over an hour each way
It was a very nice way to spend our last day of freedom before being locked down again
