With all the lockdowns and uncertainty this year it has been our longest time ever between trips (6.5 months & our last trip was cut short) so we were very excited to be back in the van
Our site was right on the bank of the Acheron River
We went for a walk past the end of the park to the rapids (the water level was too high to see them) and a pretty little clearing
and a game of giant chess
On Sunday we went out for the day, about 25mins away from Taggerty towards Eildon is Snobs Creek Falls. The falls are right next to the road side, from the small car park you can go right 25m to the cascades or left 100m to the main falls
We went right first to the cascades
Then we went left, there is a viewing platform fixed to a rock face on the side of the falls starting near the top of the falls and then going down to a second platform
After the heavy rain we had just had there was SO MUCH water and the bottom viewing platform gets you very close to the falls (none of the photos are zoomed in)
We then continued on to Eildon and had a sausage sizzle at the Eildon Lions Park which is beside the lower Eildon Pondage
The Pondage walk starts at the Lions Park, It is a flat, easy to navigate walk around the lower pondage, including over the lower pondage wall. It took about 45mins to complete the circuit
Once we were back at the caravan park the kids had a play at the park and on the jumping pillow
And the big boys played footy
We finished the day off with another fire and a game of cards against humanity
Next day was pack up day, on the way home we went through Marysville, we wanted to visit Steavenson Falls in the day time as we had only every seen it at night under the flood lights
and just as it started to rain again we decided to climb to the top of the falls
The top of the falls lookout is 800m and 15-30 mins one way & is a well formed but rocky track & is steep
It was interesting to have now seen the falls from 3 different angles, At night & during the day looking up and from the top looking down.
We had hoped to have a play at the big park in Marysville but by the time with got back the rain had set in so we finished off with lunch at the Marysville Bakery before heading home.
