The Otways
Sunday 12th May 2019
(these places are not suitable to take a caravan to)
For Mothers day this year we decided to do a day trip to the Otways and visit a few waterfalls. First stop was Hopetoun Falls.
Hopetoun Falls
Hopetoun Falls Is located in Beech Forest and is a 30 metre waterfall that plummets into the Aire River in the Great Otway National Park
The upper viewing platform is easily accessible and is a 20 metre walk from the car park
You can also descend down more than 200 stairs to the base of the falls which is well worth the walk. It is about a kilometre return trip, allow half an hour
Californian Redwoods
Not far down the road is an 85 year old plantation of Californian Redwood Trees on the banks of the Aire River. It is a beautiful spot to visit and the trees are amazing. We had a picnic lunch here
Triplet Falls
Our third & final stop for the day was Triplet Falls. This is a 1 hour loop beginning & ending at the triplet falls car park.
Follow the path to the lower viewing platform the follow the raised walkway through a series of elevated viewing platforms
The track then goes through an old timber mill with remnant artefacts before returning to the car park.
