Maidens Inn Moama

Powered Site 41

Maidens Inn Holiday Park Moama is located right on the Murray River

Deniliquin Street, Moama

Ph: 5480 9253

Our site was in a perfect position right on the riverfront with access down to the river for fishing and walking and also only having 1 neighbour. The only down fall was it was quite a walk away from the toilets & showers

We arrived on Wednesday night with Mum & Dad (who only stayed for 2 nights) & after setting up spent the afternoon at the pool with the kids

The next day we got up and went on a 1 hour paddle steamer cruise aboard the
PS Pevensey

In the olden days the PS Pevensey carried 120 tons of cargo, she collected bales of wool from stateion properties & brought them to the Echuca wharf to be loaded into trains and taken to Melbourne to be shipped overseas

The Pevensey is special because it has its original steam engine.

We had coffee outside on the deck

And the kids each had a turn of driving the boat & were given a certificate

We also had access to the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre which included a guided tour.
It was a fascinating tour about the ports history with a very funny tour guide and well worth doing if you get the chance

After the Port we came back for an afternoon of fishing & relaxing

On Friday we went to the Great Aussie Beer Shed & Heritage Farm Museum.

This is a very unique and interesting tourist attraction which is 3km from Echuca. It is one mans collection and has an unbeliveable display of Aussie Icon Paraphernalia including over 17,000 beer cans from around the world.

Other interesting items include tap tops, handles, barrels, bottles & signs.

As you stroll through the musuem there is also a huge assortment of iconic aussie products, brand names & machinery, like old petrol bowsers, washing machines, a coca cola collection, kitchen & laundry items and a partially restored WW1 canon & the bell used at the Melbourne olympics

In September 2017 a new part of the Museum was opened known as the Beer Stein & Horse Drawn Carriage Museum, the carriages include a Dabb and Co Royal Mail Cart, 1920 Milk Cart & Butchers Cart & a Taxi Cab

The Owner Neil Thomas is on hand and provides an enthusiastic & entertaining guided Tours showing some of the history & uniqueness of some of the items. The talk is amazing and Neil does a great job to involve all the children there and keep them entertained as well

Kayleigh was not so interested in the talk but found a little friend to keep her entertained

This was a fantastic morning out and well worth the $30 family entry ticket!

After Lunch the kids had a play around the Caravan park on the playground & jumping pillow

On Saturday we went and had a look around town at the shops then had lunch at the Beechworth Bakery

On the way back to the caravan park we stopped at the Horseshoe Lagoon Walk which is a short boardwalk stroll amongst the wet lands and river. It was very pretty and enjoyable.

The afternoon was filled with swimming and playing

Sunday we went to Billabong Ranch which is located just outside Echuca.

It has many different activities and packages depending on what you want to do.

We opted to do the "Special Package" which included Mini golf, bouldering, pedal boats, animal nursery, outdoor 10 pin bowling, beach volley ball & playground this was $99. The kids also had a choice of either a pony ride or bungee trampoline which was $10 each.

Later that afternoon we went for a walk along the river as the sun was setting
