BALI - March 2025 - Day 7

 Day 7

It was an early start today with a 6:30am pick up from our hotel. We travelled a little bit over an hour to get to Bali Zoo

Bali Zoo

Bali's first and only zoological park is a wondrous place where you can learn the behavior of over 500 rare and exotic animals in a lush, tropical environment. A park where you can participate in fascinating animal adventure activities, some of which are unique experiences of their kind in Indonesia.

We decided to go to Bali Zoo to have Breakfast with the Orangatans. We jumped on an open aired tour bus that took us up to the area where the  Orangatans were. On the way there were some elephants that you were allowed to pat and interact with

Breakfast with the orangatans

Start the most important meal of the day with our adorable Orangutan at their playground. Breakfast in the zoo might be a common thing, but breakfast with Orangutan? That would be one kind of an experience!. The first in Indonesia, Bali Zoo launched a unique Breakfast with Orangutan experience. Now, guests are not only able to enjoy breakfast like a king, but also with kings of the jungle: Orangutans.

While the experience wasn't quite like the picture it was still an enjoyable day. There was a lovely buffet breakfast with many options to choose from. Throughout the sitting they had some orangutans walking along some rope and then an opportunity to take a photo near the orangutans but they were not allowed to be touched.

After breakfast we had a look around the rest of the zoo

It was a big morning at the Zoo.

Next we headed Cave tubing, it was booked through our driver but it was through a company called "Nukuwera & Pandawa" I was quite worried about what it would be like for Nash but it was amazing and everyone loved it.

Cave Tubing

There were lots of steps down to the area where you get your life jackets and store your belongings and then lots of steps back up to where there is a jeep type car that takes you to the start of the tubes.

We each had our own tube, including Nash and we went in age order with Nash at the front following the guide, who was holding his tube and helping him along.

The guide also had Michael's phone in a waterproof pocket and took lots of videos and photos for us along the way.

There were lots of beautiful caves, some had quite small openings where you had to lay down to go though and others opened up at the top where you could see beautiful secenery.

There was also some open spaces to float

and near the end there was a small drop

The finish was right where we put our life jackets on & they had a change room so you could get changed before leaving. It was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be and probably my favourite activity we did.

On the way home we stopped at Tegenungan Waterfall

Tegenungan Waterfall

Tegenungan Waterfall is a powerful waterfall where the water plummets over a 15m drop in the Petanu River. It’s one of the largest waterfalls in central Bali, just a 25-minute drive south of Ubud town centre.

First you arrive at a large car park and then walk past a few shops, market stalls and restaurants then you arrive at the top and the viewing platforms
There are a few insta photo opportunities with the waterfall in view in the background

There are around 200 steps to climb down to reach the bottom. At the bottom there are a few little small pools and then you can go swimming at the base of the waterfall but it is very rough and very rocky. We only went in a very short way and not for very long.

We headed back to the hotel and organised for Kayleigh to have her braids taken out and redone by the same people that did the first ones but this time they came to our hotel. While this was being done the boys went for a swim.

We then headed down to the Bintang resort which is about a 5 minute walk away and where I stayed when I came to Bali about 20 years earlier

We had dinner on the beach front restaurant and enjoyed the views

We walked back along the beach
