After having our holiday here cut short in 2021 due to Nash being unwell we finally returned to finish off our planned things. This time we went with Uncle James, Caleb, Heidi & Bonnie

We left on Thursday afternoon and arrived and set up in time for dinner

On Friday Morning we headed to the Tarra Bulga National Park which is about a 35 minute drive away

We started off with the fern Gully Nature Walk

Location: Tarra Bulga National Park

Distance: 720m return

Duration: 15 minutes

Grade: Level 3

Start/ finish: Bulga Picnic Area

Walk to the impressive Corrigan Suspension Bridge, which stretches through the rainforest canopy, affording spectacular views of the lush fern gully on the forest floor below. The original bridge was built in 1938 for intrepid tourists, but the bridge standing today was built more recently by the army in 1982. Follow the signs from the Visitor Centre Carpark via Lyrebird Ridge, Ash and Wills Tracks.

We had some sausages in bread for lunch at the picnic area

Then we headed a little down the road to the Tarra Picnic area and did the Tarra Valley Rain Forrest Walk

Location: Tarra Valley, Tarra Bulga National Park

Distance: 1.4km return

Duration: 35 minutes

Grade: Level 2

Start/ finish: Tarra Valley Picnic Area

Meander through a rainforest gully and across trickling mountain streams to Cyathea Falls. The ancient Myrtle Beech along the trail creates a protective canopy above a delicate understorey of tree ferns, lichens and moss.

Then it was back to camp for a swim in the pool

On Saturday we travelled to a little town called Walhalla, about 45 minutes drive from Traralgon.

Experience life as it was in historic Walhalla. Once one of Australia's richest towns and home to over 4000 gold seekers, this sleepy mountainside town is now frozen in time and is home to only 20 residents. Walk through the lovingly restored centre full of heritage buildings, try your hand at panning for gold, or take a tour of the surrounding area

We went on the Walhalla Goldfields Railway which is an old steam train that journeys

from Walhalla Station to Thomson and back again through Stringers Creek Gorge.

Thomson

We had lunch at the Wally Pub

and then went for a drive around the town before heading back to camp

Mason had a go on the ropes course

and the other kids had a play in the mini golf

and then we had another swim

The next day was pack up day and home time with a Maccas stop on the way

Another fun weekend away with the cousins
