Since Aunty Christie and I were younger we have always wanted to do the Sprint Car Easter Trail which goes from Avalon on Good Friday night, Mount Gambier on Saturday night and finishes in Warrnambool on Sunday night.

We decided this year was the year & Mason was coming with us. Taking the caravan wasn't an option, I am confident towing it but neither of us felt like we could back it especially in the peak of Easter. We looked into other options such as hiring a camper van or staying in hotels but as the trail moves around every night and it being Easter almost every place had a 3-4 day minimum stay and was expensive. So we settled for staying in a tent.

We went to Avalon Speedway on Friday night and then all went home afterward. Christie came over early on Saturday morning and we started the 4 hour journey to Mount Gambier stopping in Hamilton at our usual bakery for lunch.

With most places being booked our we were lucky to find a spot at the Limestone Coast Tourist Park, it was a basic caravan park but we had an ensuite site and it did the job just fine. We had to do a 2 night booking even though we were only staying 1 night but it wasn't too expensive

We set up our camp and had time for a quick nap before heading to the track

Night 2 was at Borderline Speedway

Next morning was Easter Sunday, luckily the Easter Bunny found us and after an attempted Sleep in, an Easter Egg hunt and a basic breakfast in the camp kitchen it was time to pack up the tent and move on.

We stopped in Port Fairy for a pub lunch

and then we continued on to Warrnambool, We were booked to stay at Surfside Caravan Park for the night but unfortunately the weather forecast had lots of rain forecast for early Monday morning and as we were going to be at the speedway all night and getting straight up to pack up and go home the next morning we decided it wasn't worth staying and packing up in the rain and having everything wet so we decided to drive home after the racing.

We needed to fill in a couple of hours in the afternoon so we went down to Lake Pertobe, we pulled out the blanket and some pillows and had a rest looking like homeless people for awhile, Mason & I went and played mini golf while Christie continued resting.

Then it was a quick change in the car and we headed to the track

It was so much fun and I am so glad we finally did it and made it happen after all these years and even better that Mason got to join us as well.
