It was back to Shipwreck Bay for our annual week over the summer break but instead of 1 week this year we extended and stayed for almost 2. Unfortunately we were unable to get the same site for the whole 2 weeks so we had to move mid way through our holiday.

2nd - 9th January 2022
Section 19, site 49
Total cost for 13 nights $858 - $66 per night
The day we arrived was 40+ degrees and it was so hot even sitting in the shade. We kept the kids in the car with the air conditioner going for as long as we could while we tried to quickly set up. Then I took a break and took them to the beach while Michael continued to set up. It was still very hot at night and Mason & I went in search of fans while Daddy took Kayleigh & Nash for a late night ice cream
Next day we went to the shops in the morning & after Nash had a sleep we went over to Lake Pertobe for a play and to check out the new equipment
It seemed cold so I packed jumpers but the kids managed to find water and had to get wet
On the Thursday we were going to spend the day in Port Fairy and Michael was going to play golf with Brandon & Matt but unfortunately Brandon had gastro so the day had to be cancelled. We went for a walk down to the breakwater and had early morning ice cream & coffee and walked around to the skate park where the kids had some fun on their scooters and bikes
While Nash had a sleep in the afternoon, Michael took the older kids to play mini golf
On Friday I spent the morning at the Hot Springs with Rachael, Christie & Christies friend Mel as always it was very relaxing and enjoyable (we did not take any pictures)
The kids went for a walk to the BMX track and i got back just in time for our friends Matt, Andy, Caleb & Mia to come and visit from Port Fairy
We hung around our camp site for awhile then Andy & I headed off kid free to the Market at Lake Pertobe, the men & the kids came over later and we had some dinner & went to the carnival
It was a very fun day!!
The next day was New Years Eve day, the weather way a little bit warmer again and we went down to Stingray Bay in the morning to try out a blow up raft Mason got for Christmas.
For New Years Eve we went down to Port Fairy to watch the street parade and the early fireworks. We ran into our friends Matt & Rachael & their kids
New Years Day we spent some time at the beach
Before we headed of to Speedway that night
and Mason and Mum again on the 2nd January
On the 2nd January Granny and Pa also arrived & we also had to move sites.
The next day we all went to Cannon Hill Lookout, there is beautiful views overlooking lake Pertobe and cannons and memorial statues to have a look at
We then went for a walk around the botanical gardens
For the previous few months Mason had been researching and planning a day out for us to visit some places along the Great Ocean Road and today was the day to show us what he had found.
The First Stop was the 12 Apostles
The 12 Apostles are one of Victoria's most famous land marks, although there is not 12 "Apostles" but 7!
Next stop was Loch Ard Gorge
Loch Ard Gorge is in the Port Campbell National Park, It is a small bay and an inlet of clear blue water surrounded by yellow washed cliff faces, it is absolutely beautiful, the pictures dont do it justice
You can walk down many steps and across the sandy beach to the bottom of the cove, it is well worth the steps in the middle of summer
We stopped in at Port Campbell for Lunch at the pub and then headed to the Grotto
The Grotto is essentially a sink hole where limestone cliffs fell away to meet the receding cliff line. It is part blowhole, part archway, part cave. There is a top viewing platform and steps you can walk down to view at eye level
Our last stop of the day was Bay of Islands Beach, this is a beach outside Peterborough, when we were there there was not many other people, it is a beautiful beach but the water was quite rough and the kids could only go in below their knees but they had so much fun splashing around and climbing some of the rocks
Well done Mason, this was such a fun day and you did a really great job of planning it all yourself!
Once we got back to the caravan park it was down to the beach again for our annual name photos
and why not go swimming in our clothes for the second time in one day!
The next day our friends Christie, Rach, Matt and Isla came in to visit from Port Fairy, we spent some time at our camp site and then went into town to get some lunch and ice cream. The girls snuck away for a quick look in some shops and then met the boys and kids for a drink at the pub
Our last day before pack up day it was snuggles with Granny in bed
and then Jordy, Nick and baby Hailee came for a visit
After going to Warrnambool for so long, almost all my life but always for speedway and never for warrnambool itself, it has been so good over the last couple of years to really start exploring all the places I really should have been to but never have been.
2 weeks went by so fast I don't know how 1 week was ever enough. 2 weeks have been booked for next year and we cant wait!
