AFL Grand Final 2022

 23rd - 26th September 2022

$480 for 3 nights

2 Adults, 2 Children

Finally after missing our Annual Grand Final holiday for the last 2 years due to covid, finally we were able to get together again

We stayed at Southcombe Lodge, the same place we stayed at last time and it is perfect for our growing group

The lodge has 16 bedroom, a large dining/living room, a large kitchen, amenities & a laundry.

We arrived mid afternoon on Friday and unpacked and set up our bedrooms & had pizza for dinner.

On Saturday morning we walked into Port Fairy to the market and had a look around there

Then it was back home for a BBQ and face painting before the big game. Geelong was playing this year which was exciting but also meant we were missing a couple of people who had gone to the game

We did our usual sweeps, putting in for first goal in first half, first goal in the second half, Norm Smith medal & winning margin. Geelong thrashed Sydney!!

Everyone was pretty tired on Saturday night, we played a few games and went to bed

We had a play at the park on Sunday morning

and later in the afternoon most people went for a walk to the light house and around Griffith Island

Griffiths Island is a small Island at the mouth of the Moyne River. It is connected by a short causeway to the mainland which gives access by foot. There is a walking track, including some beach walking which goes around the island and it is truly beautiful.

The kids had lots of fun in the sand and water together and somehow on the way back Mason lost his shoe, with no spare pairs of shoes with us I walked all the way around again but couldn't find it anywhere!

On Sunday night were we a bit more lively playing cards and having a few drinks.

It was a great weekend away with friends, it is so nice to see all the kids playing together so nicely especially when they haven't seen much of each other the last couple of years

Haven't they grown!!

Mason's Birthday Night in Melbourne

 The Sheraton Melbourne

27 Little Collins Street, Melbourne

9th - 10th September 2022

Room 814

$365 including Buffet Breakfast

For around 6 Months Mason's birthday wish was to stay in a Hotel in Melbourne with just Mum & Dad - No kids allowed! He was given the choice of either having a night away or having a party and for him the choice was easy - a night away!

He had specific requirements for his hotel

- It had to be like the "what's on in Melbourne App", not an apartment like we have previously stayed in

- Had to have a swimming pool

- had to have room service

- Had to have a restaurant

- Had to have free WiFi

- Had to have his own big bed

We choose the Sheraton and it did not disappoint

Our bags were taken upon arrival and delivered to our rooms before we arrived upstairs and at reception while checking in we were offered Sparkling Water, juice, popcorn and fruit which was a lovely surprise!

We got a Double room, with 2 double beds and had views of the MCG

We headed off to Crown Casino on a tram shortly after we arrived

And surprised Mason with a round of golf at Holey Moley

Mid way through we had a drinks break and mason was treated to a mocktail, it took him awhile to get used to the different taste but in the end it wasn't too bad

After finishing our round at Holey Moley we jumped back on the tram and headed back up Collins Street stopping at the Bank Bar & Restaurant for dinner

For Entre we shared the Chicken Nibbles & the Calamari which were both delicious. Michael had the Steak, I had the Parmi & Mason had the chicken schnitzel & chips but had eaten so many chicken wings he couldn't eat his main.

Back at the hotel we decided to go for a quick swim before the footy finals on TV started

Unfortunately the heating on the spa wasn't working and it was the same temperature as the rest of the pool (which was quite cold) so we didn't stay too long

We went back to our room and Mason ordered some ice cream from room service for dessert and we lazed around doing puzzles and watching the football

Mason got up very early the next morning & was back swimming in the pool with Dad at 6am, then came back and went back to sleep and didn't want to wake up for his buffet breakfast

After breakfast we checked out and spent the day searching Melbourne and Werribee for a pair of Basketball shoes for Mason for his birthday...

It was a fantastic night away and I am so glad we got to spend some one on one time with Mason & I wish we had of had longer but he is already planning to do it again for his 12th Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MASON!
